We look at three measures of average lifespan: life expectancy at birth, median age at death and modal age at death to understand patterns of mortality from 1841 to 2020 in England and Wales. We also consider future prospects for mortality using projections of life expectancy for 2021 to 2070.

This article presents the results of an ONS project to estimate the value of services exports abroad from the English regions, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It presents experimental estimates of the value of these exports for 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 (the latest year available). The estimates by region and country of the UK are broadly consistent with the UK totals shown in the Balance of Payments.

In 2014, as the consequence of a 2013 European Union e-commerce taskforce, chaired by Lord Young of Graffham, the Office for National Statistics began a project to consider how it could contribute to the monitoring of e-commerce nationally. This report proposes the use of an indicator set, combining a dashboard approach alongside an interactive graphic, and sets out some potential future developments.
