Please provide me with the number of death certificates stating Coronavirus (COVID-19) as one of the reasons of death and the grand total of all the death certificates for the year range 2020-2022 inclusive by country in the UK.

Thank you for your enquiry.
We (ONS) are responsible for the production of mortality statistics for deaths registered in England and Wales. This is driven by information collected from death certificates at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.
All-cause UK headline figures
In collaboration with NRS and NISRA, we publish headline data for the UK in our Vital statistics in the UK: births, deaths and marriages - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk) publication. This data is supplied by NISRA and NRS to ONS for the Vital Statistics publication at the end of each year.
The latest data available in this publication is for 2020. Data for 2021 due to be released later in February 2023. 2022 data will be available in this publication next year.
Should you wish to obtain Scottish or Northern Irish mortality data for 2021 and 2022 prior to the updates of the Vital Statistics publication, please contact NRS and NISRA at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.

2020 to 2021: For deaths in England and Wales for 2020 to 2021, please see the following publication: Deaths Registered Series. Please see table 1a which provides annual counts for 1838-2021.
2022: For provisional all cause death counts in 2022, please see table 1 of the Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, provisional.
COVID-19 mortality
2020 to 2021
For death registrations where COVID-19 was registered as the underlying cause of death or mentioned as a contributing factor, please see Deaths due to COVID-19, registered in England and Wales. These figures are available for 2020-2021, please see tables 5a and 5b.
2022
Deaths registered in 2022 are in a provisional state and subject to change following late registrations. These figures will be finalised and published in July 2023. Please see table 15 of our monthly mortality analysis which provides concurrent figures from March 2020 to December 2022 of deaths due to and involving COVID-19.
