Confidence intervals updated for Orkney islands (S12000023) for the 2016 to 2018 period. This correction only affects females in age bands 1 to 6, and does not change any conclusions drawn in the data.

Life expectancy (LE), Healthy life expectancy (HLE), and Disability-free life expectancy (DFLE) estimates updated for age groups ‘’ through to ‘45-49’ at the UK level for the 2018 to 2020 period. DFLE estimates also updated for some instances for constituent countries. All changes are minor and do not change any conclusions drawn in the data.

Disability-Free Life Expectancy (DFLE) estimates are not comparable across the whole time series between the periods 2009 to 2011 and 2015 to 2017.

This is because there were changes in questions used to estimate disability in the Annual Population Survey (APS) between 2009 to 2011 and 2015 to 2017. It is important to note that DFLE estimates for the period 2014 to 2016 and 2015 to 2017 are based on the latest harmonised standard questions exclusively for the first time and are comparable, but they are not comparable with previous periods in the series.
