Job density is useful for comparing economic activity, employment concentration and commuting patterns across areas. However, as it is based on survey estimates and population data, results are subject to sampling and other sources of error and should not be used to set local performance targets.

Data for the City of London has been excluded from the line chart and bar chart on this service because its high workplace population relative to its resident population can distort the overall representation of the data.
