1. Introduction

Following the closure of the Research Accreditation Service (RAS), two new systems have been introduced to meet the needs of users of the Secure Research Service (SRS) and Integrated Data Service (IDS):

  • Project Accreditation Service for SRS (PASS)

2. Researcher accreditation

Any researcher wishing to access a project under the Digital Economy Act 2017 (DEA) in any Trusted Research Environment (TRE) needs to be accredited. The details and conditions for the SRS are outlined on the Become an accredited researcher web page.

The PPS is part of the IDS infrastructure and will service new researcher accreditations and accreditation renewals for users of all TREs. More information on how to apply for an IDS Hub account and become an accredited researcher, or how to renew your existing accreditation, is available in the guidance on the IDS website.
