Weekly deaths 1965 to 2020

I can only find it for the past 10 years on your website

I note that the national records for Scotland publishes Scottish records from 1974 onwards

Also - do you have the mid year population estimates for England and Wales - over the same timeframe (1965 - 2020) (this goes back to 1971 on your website)?

Deaths between 1965 to 2020

We are responsible for the production of mortality data for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration.

We have available the following ad hoc weekly deaths analysis pre-2010.

Data based on date that the death was registered:

Deaths registered weekly from 1993 to 2018 by region, England and Wales

Weekly provisional figures on deaths registered in England and Wales 2005 to 2015

Data based on date that the death occurred:

Weekly death occurrences from 1982 to 1992 by region, England and Wales

Daily death occurrences, England, regions of England and Wales: 1970 to 2014

Daily deaths, England and Wales, 2015 to 2018 occurrences

Monthly deaths, England and Wales, deaths that occurred between 2001 and 2018

Further analysis of weekly deaths dating back to 1965 would need to be created as bespoke analysis. Such services would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure controls, resources and agreement of costs. Population statistics response

Our latest mid-year population estimates are for mid-2019 with the mid-2020 estimates due for publication in June 2021.

For mid-year population estimates for England and Wales our UK Population Estimates 1838 to 2019 is a downloadable Excel file which contains various tables for England, Wales and England and Wales combined. Unfortunately, we do not hold estimates for England and Wales separately for the period 1965 to 1970.
