You asked

Can you please provide information on redundancies that have arisen in the UK as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular emphasis on the Black/ Asian Ethnic minorities.

How much more likely is a person of colour in the UK to lose his/ her job in this current climate?

We said

Thank you for your request.

Estimates of the number of people made redundant in the UK, sourced from the Labour Force Survey (LFS), are published on a monthly basis in Dataset RED01 on our website:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peoplenotinwork/redundancies/datasets/redundancieslevelsandratesnotseasonallyadjustedred01nsa

In addition, estimates of labour market status by ethnic group, also sourced from the LFS, are published on a quarterly basis in Dataset A09 on our website:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/employmentandemployeetypes/datasets/labourmarketstatusbyethnicgroupa09

Unfortunately, we do hold a breakdown of redundancy and ethnicity. This would need to be created as part of our bespoke service. Such a service would fall outside of the Freedom of Information regime and would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreement of costs where appropriate. If you would like to enquire about obtaining these estimates, please contact the customer services team of ONS's Social Surveys Division at socialsurveys@ons.gov.uk.
