You asked

I would like to obtain statistics from the UK Census in 2011.

I would like to know how many respondents ticked the answer (Box A) 'White' on Question 16 and simultaneously ticked 'Muslim' on Question 20.

If possible, please also give these statistics broken down by sex.

You have made a freedom of information request for the number of respondents (to the 2011 Censuses in the UK) who ticked the option (Box A) 'White' on Question 16 (What is your ethnic group?) and ticked 'Muslim' on Question 20 (What is your religion?).

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is only responsible for census statistics in England and Wales. Please contact National Records of Scotland (http://www.scotlandscensus.gov.uk/contact-us) for details on the position in Scotland, and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) (https://www.nisra.gov.uk/contact) for details on the position in Northern Ireland.

We have published the information you have requested for England and Wales; the table ‘DC2201EW - Ethnic Group by Religion’ is available from the Nomis webpage: https://www.nomisweb.co.uk/census/2011/dc2201ew

Using the “View” option for England and Wales shows a total of 210,620 selected an option in the white ethnic group category for the ‘What is your ethnic group?’ question and 'Muslim' for the ‘What is your religion?’ question. Use the “Query data” option should you wish to refine your search.

Please note that in in order to protect against disclosure of personal information, records have been swapped between different geographic areas. Some counts will be affected, particularly small counts at the lowest geographies.
