1) Coronavirus cases
We are responsible for producing mortality statistics for England and Wales. This is produced from information collected from the death certificate at death registration.
We are not responsible for the collection of infection data. This is led by Public Health England (PHE). However, please see the following link to the PHE dashboard, which contains COVID-19 tests, cases, and deaths in the UK: Coronavirus (COVID-19) tests, cases and deaths in the UK. As part of pillar 4, we have collaborated in the COVID-19 Infection survey to learn more about the prevalence of the virus. This can be accessed via the following link: COVID-19 Infection survey. If you require further details on this please contact infection.survey.analysis@ons.gov.uk.

This bulletin contains provisional data for weekly COVID-19 death registrations and occurrences in 2020, with an England and Wales comparison, including a regional breakdown. This publication is updated every Tuesday around 09:30.
