Summary

ONS has been working on developing a measure designed to capture the severity of crimes recorded by the police. This article describes the methods behind the proposed measure, presents initial findings, and seeks feedback from users on the methods proposed and on whether a Crime Severity Score should be incorporated in Official Statistics on Crime in England and Wales.
