Statistics are most often revised for 1 of 2 reasons:

  1. For certain statistics initial estimates are released with the expectation that these may be revised and updated as further data becomes available.
  2. Revisions may also be made when methods or systems are changed.

These types of planned revisions should not be confused with errors in released statistics, which are genuine mistakes. Such mistakes occur rarely and, when they do happen, corrections are made in a timely manner, announced and clearly explained to users in line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics (Principle 2, Practice 7).

We have corrected the following errors in the August 2022 and November 2022 datasets: 1. The estimates in table 6.2b for England and Scotland have been corrected. The sample sizes for table 6.2b have also been updated. 2. Table 5.3b has been updated with the correct sample sizes. The above errors required correction because of human error. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. 3. Estimates reported from the Opinions and Lifestyle survey have been updated. This is because of a weighting error which resulted in those in Wales and Scotland being weighted to the wrong populations. This issue occurred because of a processing error. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
