Estimates of period life expectancy based on a single year of data are considered less robust than estimates for three-year periods as they are more prone to annual fluctuations in deaths caused by, for example, seasonal events. Single year estimates will generally have wider confidence intervals and reduced precision. 

Single year estimates for constituent countries included in this dataset (provided for comparison with local area estimates) use an abridged life table and will therefore differ from the estimates in our Single-year life tables: UK and constituent countries release, which use single years of age.
