Summary of request
The previously chosen method for calculating the total estimated number of racially or religiously motivated hate crimes did not account for the fact that a single incident can be recorded as both a racially and religiously motivated incident at the same time. Using this method the total estimated number of racially or religiously motivated hate crimes may have counted a single incident twice. The new method takes account of this fact and single incidents are only calculated once in the total, confidence intervals have been provided around these estimates.
