Correction - 13 October 2025
We have corrected an error in the “Cover” section of this publication, under the heading “Age group(s)”. The previous version read: “Working age (16-64 years of age)”. It should have read: “Ages 16 and above”. This happened because of a human error. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The “Notes” and “Business Ownership Definition” sections have also been updated to make them clearer and easier to understand. They now explain that the figures in this publication represent instances of business ownership, not the number of individual business owners.
Correction - 27 March 2026
Following a quality review, we identified an error in this dataset published on 26 February 2025. The issue occurred due to a manual processing error, and affected the data for London and some UK breakdowns. This has now been identified and rectified.
Updated and accurate data, including confidence intervals, can be accessed here: ONS Local: approximation of business ownership by ethnicity, in the UK and English regions, 2012 to 2024. We are committed to transparency and high statistical standards and apologise for the error.
