There has been a small discrepancy noted between the UK trade and quarterly GDP publications. This has affected the services and total trade data for chain volume measures (CVM) only. The differences are minimal with an average difference of less than £15m per quarter. There is a maximum difference of £70m per quarter. The period impacted is 1997 to 2018 and does not impact any other data or trends within this release. This discrepancy was due to an issue with data processing and data within UK trade will be updated to re-align with GDP on 15 January 2021, the earliest possible opportunity. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
