Dataset(s): Regional Gross Value Added (Production Approach) Unconstrained Data Tables

Experimental statistics showing annual estimates of regional GVA(P) NUTS1 and NUTS2 CVM, 1998 to 2014 (2013 = 100), 1998 to 2013 (2012=100) and 1998 to 2012 (2011=100 ). These data are not constrained to ensure that the regions sum to the UK total.

Statistics are most often revised for 1 of 2 reasons:

  1. For certain statistics initial estimates are released with the expectation that these may be revised and updated as further data becomes available.
  2. Revisions may also be made when methods or systems are changed.

These types of planned revisions should not be confused with errors in released statistics, which are genuine mistakes. Such mistakes occur rarely and, when they do happen, corrections are made in a timely manner, announced and clearly explained to users in line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics (Principle 2, Practice 7).

Correction See correction
A processing error was found in the Regional Gross Value Added (Production Approach) release. This was due to an error in the process used to convert old to new NUTS2 regions throughout the system. The error has now been corrected and the impact was to change the figures for London NUTS2 regions for numerous industries across the entire time series. The correction does not impact NUTS1 figures, nor NUTS2 sub-regions other than London.
