We have identified an error in the 2026 edition of this dataset. This is because of an issue in the input data provided by one of our data suppliers, relating to the Recreation and tourism (expenditure) ecosystem service. We estimate this to have a minor impact on this ecosystem service’s physical flow, annual and asset value estimates for the UK and Scotland for 2022 and 2023.
We will not publish a correction to this release, as this would be data and resource intensive, risking delaying our upcoming UK natural capital accounts (NCA): 2026 release, scheduled for November 2026. Our statistical bulletin will contain a new methodology and data, along with corrected and revised data, for the Recreation and tourism (expenditure) ecosystem service, replacing and superseding the entire time series from the 2025 release.
A subset of the updated 2026 NCA figures, covering ecosystem physical flow, annual value and asset values for the UK will also be available on 30 October 2026, as part of the UK National Accounts, The Blue Book 2026 release.
