We would like to inform users that some indices in the dataset (2020 Edition) “Public service productivity estimates: total public service” were not published with reference indices set to 100 in 1997. Due to the age of this publication, it is not feasible to accurately correct this aspect in this version. In line with best practice, we recommend referring to the most recent datasets for updated and accurate information.

As previously announced on 18 August 2025, an error was identified with some indices in the dataset ‘Public service productivity estimates: total public service (2020 edition)’.
In this previous publication, reference indices were not correctly rebased to 1997. The error was because of human error and was initially identified by a user reviewing adult social care data. On reviewing the whole dataset, we found that adult social care estimates in Tables 4 and 6 and all service areas in Table 5 were affected. We have now corrected the 2020 version of the dataset. We apologise for this correction.
