About the programme
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) established the Integrated Data Programme (IDP) to improve access to linked data and enable secure, efficient analysis in support of government priorities.
One of the programme's key deliverables was the Integrated Data Service (IDS), which provided a secure cloud-based analytical environment for approved external users to access and analyse de-identified data.
Technology legacy
Following the conclusion of the programme, IDS closed as a standalone service in summer 2025. However, we have retained the underlying technology, infrastructure and analytical capability developed through the programme and they now form part of the Cloud Analytical Platform (CAP).
CAP continues to provide a secure analytical environment for ONS-led research, data processing and approved collaborative projects, building on the foundations established through IDP.
Evaluation
The formal evaluation of the IDP and IDS included achievements, lessons learned and recommendations for future data-sharing and analytical initiatives.
