I would like to know what is the value of the biggest SIPP (Self Invested Private Pension) in the UK?
We said
Thank you for your enquiry concerning the value of the biggest SIPP (Self Invested Private Pension) in the UK.
Unfortunately, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) does not hold this information.
We estimate the value of pension wealth using data collected on the Wealth and Assets Survey (WAS) which covers Great Britain, with the latest release covering the period April 2020 to March 2022. Please note, that while the survey does identify whether a personal pension is self-invested, and survey respondents who hold them are asked to provide a value, taking the maximum value from the survey data would not be a reliable reflection of the true value in the UK. Steps are taken to ensure addresses more likely to contain wealthier households were sampled at a higher rate to improve survey sample efficiency, however there are challenges with coverage at the top of the wealth distribution and so the wealthiest households can be underrepresented.
We provide WAS data under End User Licence (EUL) via the UK Data Service (UKDS) which can be accessed here: EUL WAS Data. Please email wealth.and.assets.survey@ons.gov.uk if you'd like further information on using the dataset and restrictions around commercial use.
