I would like to request information in relation to current vacant/abandoned freehold dwellings in the regions of North East Derbyshire District Council and Chesterfield Borough Council from 01/01/2017 to the present. Specifically:

  1. The size of available properties, e.g. number of bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.
  2. Registered or unregistered with HM Land Registry
  3. Registered with the local council for council tax purposes
  4. Owner details
  5. If the properties available for sale or rent
  6. If the owners are deceased, if so, are there details of the next of kin, has the estate has been referred and if so, where to
  7. The date of last known occupancy
  8. If the properties have been classed as Bona Vacantia?

However, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) publishes statistics on the number of vacant dwellings in local authority areas. MHCLG also publishes experimental statistics which provide estimates of the stock of leasehold and freehold dwellings. These are available here:

With regards to item 1 in your enquiry, statistics on the characteristics of properties in the dwelling stock are published by the Valuation Office Agency. They are available in Table CTSOP3.1 which can be downloaded from the following webpage:

With regards to item 2 in your enquiry, HM Land Registry is responsible for maintaining records of registered properties. You may wish to contact them regarding the number of registered and unregistered properties.
