Suicides in Bournemouth and Poole, 2020 to present

Dear Office for National Statistics,

Please provide:

1) Number of suicides broken down separately per year from 2020 to present in Poole

2) Number of suicides broken down separately per year from 2020 to present in Bournemouth

We said

Thank you for your request. 

Our annual publication on Suicides in England and Wales provides figures for deaths due to suicide in each local authority from 2001 to 2023. Please see attached the latest edition which presents figures broken down by the geographical boundaries as of May 2024 which includes figures for people usually resident in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole local authority. 

In order to produce figures for local areas, we link our the postcodes provided in our raw mortality data to the National Statistics Postcode Lookup. The lookup allows us to produce figures for various geographies including regions, cities and counties. Unfortunately, it does not allow us to produce figures for towns, so we are unable to provide separate figures for Bournemouth and Poole.
