You asked
I should like to request the following information: the structure of the agency's IT department including, but not limited, to its hierarchy, teams sizes and contract/permanent split. I would also like to request information on whether the development team uses Java or Microsoft programming language, and if Microsoft Dynamics is used as a CRM system and if so, which version. I should prefer to receive these in electronic format at this email address, however, I am happy to receive them by post if that is more convenient.
It would be helpful if you were to provide any brief notes which might be necessary to understand the context of the information provided, although I recognise that you are not obliged to do this.

The ONS's IT department is called Digital Service Transformation and Methodology (DTM) directorate which covers a larger remit than just IT. This response will only deal with the IT teams which sit in 3 branches and the information is correct as of 09/10/2015.
The three IT branches of the directorate are:
Digital Services is led by one Senior Civil Servant Grade 1. The branch has 8 permanent colleagues and 2 contractors.
Digital Publishing is led by one Senior Civil Servant Grade 1. The branch has 60.5 permanent colleagues and 6 contractors.
Technology Services is led by one Senior Civil Servant Grade 1. The branch has 249 permanent colleagues and 47 contractors.
Team sizes vary depending on the projects and programmes being delivered across these branches.
Digital Services is concerned with setting the Digital strategy for the ONS.
Digital Publishing is concerned with the development of the ONS website.
Technology Services is concerned with a number of software development projects, infrastructure projects and operational support.
We have a number of heritage systems that are based on Microsoft Visual Basic 6 which deliver statistical outputs.
We have a number of systems that have been developed or are being developed using Java.
We have only used .net on a small prototype project once.
Microsoft Dynamics is not used by the DTM directorate.
