You asked
I would like to ask if you could provide me data helping to establish resident population sizes across all UTLAs in England between the years 2019 (ISO week data if available or mean yearly averages) until year 2025?
The regions we'd like to use the population size are as follows:
- UKHSA Region
- East Midlands
- East of England
- London
- North East
- North West
- South East
- South West
- West Midlands
- Yorkshire and Humber
- Total
Optimally if the data could also be supplied per each region by age group:
- age group breakdown provided at an all-England geographical level
- under 1 year
- 1-4 years
- 5-14 years
- 15-44 years
- 45-64 years
- 65+years
We said
Thank you for your request.
Unfortunately, we do not yet hold population data for 2025. However, we do have National population projections: 2022 based, which projects the potential future population size of the UK and its constituent countries, rather than UTLA's and regions.
Our Population estimates for England and Wales: mid-2024 provides the most recent national and subnational mid-year population estimates for England and Wales by administrative area, age and sex.
Please also see the attached dataset, which provides population estimates from 2019 to 2023.
This data has been downloaded using the Nomis website. Nomis is run by Durham University on behalf of ONS.
You will see that all regions have been highlighted at the bottom of each dataset; the countries and UTLA's can be found within the data.
The age totals do not match those you have requested, therefore, you would need to calculate these by adding the relevant ages together.
