I hope you can help me with this information or direct me to where I can find it.

I hear in the media that 75% of "young" people that voted in the recent referendum voted to remain in the EU. I also hear that the turnout from that group was low in comparison to others.

What I would like to know is the number of those who voted in this group (and others if available) as a proportion of those that could have voted.

Thank you for your request. The requested information is not held by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Although ONS produce population statistics for the UK, we do not produce figures on the number of people that vote or that are able to vote.

The Electoral Commission produce statistics relating to Referendum results: http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/find-information-by-subject/elections-and-referendums/upcoming-elections-and-referendums/eu-referendum/electorate-and-count-information

It is possible that the figures identified in the media are taken from a variety of sources, including polling organisations such as YOUGOV or Ipsos MORI.
