You asked

I am interested in statistics from the year 2015 which can tell me the race of victims and perpetrators of violence in the UK.

I would like the data to reflect all forms of violence including homicide, violent assault, domestic violence and sexual violence.

Thank you for your enquiry relating to the race of victims and perpetrators of violence in the UK.

Data on violent crime is published alongside our ‘Focus on Violent Crime and Sexual Offences’ publication. The most recent version of which, Focus on Violent Crime and Sexual Offences: year ending March 2015 can be found here:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/compendium/focusonviolentcrimeandsexualoffences/yearendingmarch2015

Data on the race of victims of violent crime (taken from the Crime Survey for England and Wales) can be found in Appendix tables 1.01 and 1.03. Appendix table 1.01 shows the race of victims of violent crime by offence type, so split by all violence, violence with injury, wounding, assault with minor injury and violence without injury. Appendix table 1.03 shows the race of victims of violent crime by type of violence, so split by domestic, acquaintance and stranger violence. The Appendix tables can be found here:

ONS do not publish data on the perpetrators of crime. There is, however, a publication by the Ministry of Justice entitled ‘Race and the Criminal Justice System’ that may contain some data which is of use to you, taken from the Court Proceedings Database. The most recent version of the publication, ‘Race and the Criminal Justice System: 2014’ can be found here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/race-and-the-criminal-justice-system-2014

This publication includes tables on the race of defendants. In particular, tables 5.03a and 5.03b, which show the numbers of juveniles and adults who were proceeded against for indictable offences, including ‘violence against the person’, split by self identified ethnicity for the years 2010 to 2014.

For more information on the ‘Race and the Criminal Justice System’ publication or information on the perpetrators of crime, I would suggest you contact the Ministry of Justice (statistics.enquiries@justice.gsi.gov.uk).
