You asked

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I request the following information relating to the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW).

Please provide:

  1. The most recent available survey results or tables showing public confidence in: police protection from burglary and police protection from violent crime.
  2. A time series, where held, showing how levels of public confidence in police protection from burglary and violent crime have changed by year over the last ten years.
  3. Please confirm whether any more recent CSEW data or provisional tables on public confidence in police protection are held but not yet published, and if so, whether these can be disclosed in aggregate form.

This request seeks aggregate statistical data only and does not request any personal data.

We said

Thank you for your request.

Unfortunately, we do not collect data on public confidence in the police related to protection from specific crime types.

Our latest data on Perception and experience of police and criminal justice system were published in August and cover public perceptions of the police more generally. For example, Tables 1 and 4 show trends in ratings and perceptions of the local police between year ending March 2004 and year ending March 2025.

The next release of these data is provisionally scheduled for July 2026.

If you have any other crime-related queries, please email crimestatistics@ons.gov.uk and we will endeavour to help you.
