I wish to make a freedom of information request regarding the prevalence of persons in the current population of 2016 with refractive hyperopia or myopia (not including degenerative myopia) in adults aged 18 and above in the UK including Northern Ireland.

I would like a detailed breakdown of results if possible. So firstly, I would like to know what percentage of the population of the United Kingdom overall are short sighted, and then I would like a percentage breakdown of how many have mild myopia (from -0.25 to -3 dioptres), moderate myopia (above -3 dioptres to -6) and high or severe myopia (anything above -6 dioptres).

I also wish to have the same breakdown for the 4 territories of the United Kingdom meaning England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Like before I wish to know the percentages of each population that are myopic and a breakdown of the severity of the short sightedness as stated before in percentage within each territory.

I would also like to have the same percentage break down for hyperopic patients but do not need the division into degrees of severity. Thus i just wish to know the percentage of the UK population that are far sighted and then a breakdown into the 4 territories as before.
