You asked
What information does the Office of National Statistics hold on why data is not being collected on the prevalence of post-exertional malaise (post-exertional symptoms exacerbation) amongst people with lingering effects of COVID-19?
We said
Thank you for your request.
We do not hold any data on post-exertional malaise as this information is not currently collected on the Coronavirus Infection Survey (CIS) or any other Office for National Statistics (ONS) survey.
No decision has been made on whether to include a question on post-exertional malaise on the CIS or any other ONS survey. We intend to formally consider collecting this additional data on an ONS survey in the future.
If you would like to discuss this enquiry further, please contact health.data@ons.gov.uk.
