Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding data for Derbyshire and Derby City. We publish data based on local authority boundaries and the geographies such as wards and output areas that make them up.
We can provide the Population Estimates Local Authority data (table MYE2). This data is available up to mid-2016 which is our latest release. You will find the filter and download tool will enable you to get single year of age (SYO) figures for the areas you are interested in. For local authorities we only produce data for SYOs up to 89 and then a combined figure for 90 plus as figures at local authority level could be personally disclosive.
We publish small area population estimates for wards and output areas and using these in conjunction with the postcode to output area lookup table you will be able to build the population estimates for postcodes. You may be interested in some experimental statistics we have produced for mid-2016 Population Estimates by Ethnic Group. A link to the tables can be found in the introduction under ‘a research note’ then on the next screen on the right hand side under ‘Related downloads’ ‘Population Characteristics Research Tables – Aug 17’.
A further paper which uses the same methodology covers estimates for 2015. This includes the publication of estimates and confidence intervals. The paper can be found here.
The last census was taken in 2011 and there are several datasets, such as ethnicity and education qualifications, produced from the 2011 census that you may find useful in this link.
For further information regarding the 2011 census data please send an email to census.customer.services@ons.gov.uk.
