Could you please provide population census data organised by race, that live under the jurisdiction area of each constabulary in England and Wales, for each of the years from 2012-2017, as to determine the racial proportionality of stop and searches.
If not possible could you send all other census data by population and race from the years 2012-2017, for each region in England and Wales.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FoI) request regarding population census data organised by race, that live under the jurisdiction area of each constabulary in England and Wales, for each of the years from 2012-2017.
Data on stop and searches for all ethnic groups has been produced by the Home Office and is published on the GOV.UK website.
A user requested data set is available including population denominators by ethnic group for the years 2011 to 2015. These denominators are neither National Statistics nor standard published experimental statistics and have not been produced using methods which have undergone formal Quality Assurance.
We do not have population data for the years requested organised by race however, we can provide the Population Estimates Local Authority data (table MYE2). This data is available up to mid-2016 which is our latest release. By using this in conjunction with the Local Authority to Police Force lookup table you will be able to build the population estimates within each Police Force area. You may be interested in some experimental statistics we have produced for mid-2016 Population Estimates by Ethnic Group A link to the tables can be found in the introduction under ‘a research note’ then on the next screen on the right hand side under ‘Related downloads’ ‘Population Characteristics Research Tables – Aug 17’.
A further paper which uses the same methodology covers estimates for 2015. This includes the publication of estimates and confidence intervals. The paper can be found here:
The last census was taken in 2011 so data would not be available for the time period you have stipulated. There are however several datasets produced from the 2011 census that you may find useful on this link. For further information regarding the 2011 census data please send an email to census.customer.services@ons.gov.uk.
When accessing any of our files please read the 'notes, terms and conditions' contained within them.
