The information you have requested is either already published or not held by ONS.

The latest population estimates available are for 2013, with estimates for 2014 being published in June 2015. As this is intended for future publication and will be freely available to members of the public, we feel Section 22(1)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act applies whereby information is exempt information if there is a view to publish the information at a future date. The Freedom of Information Act recognises the desirability of information being freely available in its own right, but Section 22 also acknowledges that public authorities must have freedom to be able to determine their own publication timetables. This allows them to deal with the necessary preparation, administration and context of publication.

In this situation, ONS consider that the public interest is best served through the public having confidence that the information published by ONS is accurate and final. Release on an ad-hoc basis would not achieve this aim and is likely to cause unnecessary confusion if they were misrepresented. Therefore, exempting the information outweighs the public interest in disclosure.

The estimated mid-year populations for 2010-2013 for the local authority district of Mid-Devon and for parishes of Crediton and Tiverton are published by ONS.

Find Statistics for an Area

  1. Enter area eg Tiverton
  2. Select Parish
  3. Search
    Select correct area match
Select 'People and Society: Population and Migration'
Select 'Resident Population Estimates, All Person (2001 - 2013)'

Annual estimates for the parish of Cullompton are not available as this area is not made up of whole LSOAs (that is, statistical building blocks). Please contact the Population Estimates Unit if you need further information on these estimates (email popinfo@ons.gov.uk or call +44 (0)1329 444 661)

These estimates do not contain information on ethnic group/nationality/country of birth.

2011 Census results, including information on total population, country of birth and ethnic group, for local authorities and parishes, including Cullompton, are also available from the above site. ONS has not published, and does not hold, statistics on nationality by parish, though the Census does provide (through the same source as previously cited) statistics on passports held which may be of interest in this context. Use the same navigation method as for the population figures but select 'Census' in the topic section. Please contact Census Customer Services (email census.customerservices@ons.gov.uk, or call +44(0) 1329 444 972) if you wish to discuss the Census figures.

You may also find the results of the Annual Population Survey (available for 2011-2014 at the Nomis website) useful. These provide some information on country of birth and ethnic group at the local authority (but not lower) level. A charged service for commissioned tables from this Survey is also available, however, due to the sample sizes available it is unlikely that any meaningful analysis could be produced for these small geographic areas. If you wish to pursue this, please email: socialsurveys@ons.gov.uk or call +44 (0)1633 455678 .
