We publish private rent price statistics on a monthly basis, and the data are available to download from the ONS wesbite: Price Index of Private Rents, UK: monthly price statistics.
These data include the percentage change in average private rent price over the past 12 months, and include breakdowns for London, Barnet and studio flats in London. The percentage change in rent price over a 6-month period can be derived from the same dataset using the rent price levels published in the dataset.
This request has been interpreted as requesting the percentage change in rent price over the most recent 12-month period (Jun-25 to Jun-26) and 6-month period (Dec-25 to Jun-26). This is what has been calculated below, using the Price Index of Private Rents data published on 22 July 2026.
1. Percentage change in rent for London in the last 6 and 12 months.
The percentage change in average rent for London was 1.5% in the 6 months to June 2026.
The percentage change in average rent for London was 2.2% in the 12 months to June 2026.
2. Percentage change in rent for Barnet district, London in the last 6 and 12 months.
The percentage change in average rent for Barnet was 0.9% in the 6 months to June 2026.
The percentage change in average rent for Barnet was 3.6% in the 12 months to June 2026.
3. Percentage change in rent for studio flat in London in the last 6 and 12 months
The percentage change in average rent for a studio flat in London was 1.6% in the 6 months to June 2026.
The percentage change in average rent for a studio flat in London was 2.2% in the 12 months to June 2026.
The most recent 12 estimates of the average rent annual inflation rate are also available in Price Index of Private Rents, UK: monthly price statistics. For example, the last three estimates of the annual inflation rate for London are reported in the PIPR dataset: 2.0% in the 12 months to April 2026, 2.0% in the 12 months to May 2026 and 2.2% in the 12 months to June 2026.
