FOI REF: FOI/2023/5066

You asked

In the 'Saving for retirement in Great Britain' Report it talks about pension wealth deciles.

My understanding is that this is for all age groups. Do you have these deciles split by age groups; I'm particularly interested in the 55-65 age group?

Just the exact same table as is already there, but just for the 55-65 age group would be very helpful.

Thank you for your query regarding median pension wealth for those aged 55-65 and split by pension wealth deciles.

In response to your FOI request, please see the associated download, containing a statistical output in Excel "Pension Wealth data deciles.xls"

It contains one analysis table which shows median private pension wealth and the percentage of total private pension wealth for those aged 55 to 65, by private pension wealth deciles in Great Britain. Please note that the pension wealth deciles have been calculated based on the total private pension wealth for adult population of Great Britain, rather than the total private pension wealth of those who are 55-65. This table is based on Table 1 in the Savings for retirement in Great Britain dataset

The data are from the Wealth and Assets Survey covering the period April 2018 to March 2020.

The Wealth and Pensions Team would be happy to discuss any further questions directly at wealthandassetssurvey@ons.gov.uk.
