You asked

I would like to request details about UK obesity levels.

Please provide the areas with the most obesity, any linked medical conditions and the mortality rates of obesity in the UK. Please also provide any additional health related statistics which are relevant to obesity.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Although we hold data on deaths registered in England and Wales, obesity is rarely reported on a death certificate as the cause of death. This is because the certifying doctor's legal obligation is to describe the specific medical conditions or events leading to death, not the deceased's risk factors or lifestyle issues. While some medical conditions are known to be connected directly or indirectly to obesity, in either all or many cases, we are not able to produce official figures or estimates of mortality rates due to obesity.

For other information relating to levels of obesity and the health consequences of obesity, you might be better going to Public Health England and the equivalent organisations for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
