Number of non-residents with COVID-19 symptoms

​​Can you please supply the numbers of registered deaths in 2020 of "non residents" with COVID-19 related symptoms.

ONS figures for England and Wales combined include deaths of non-residents by default.  When we present numbers for each individual country then non-residents are excluded.

You can find the requested information in the following publication: Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, provisional.

Please follow this process to calculate non-resident COVID-19 deaths:

  1. Locate the total death count for England and Wales individually (where non-residents are excluded from the figures). This information can be found in the 'UK – Covid-19 – Weekly reg' table in the above publication.
  2. Locate the combined death count for England and Wales (where non-residents are included). This information can be found in the 'Weekly figures 2020' table in the above publication.
  3. Subtract the individual country death count (step 1) from the combined death count (step 2).
  4. This will give you the figure for the number of non-residents who have died from COVID-19.
