Please provide the number of people who have received fines since 23 March 2020 for breaking the COVID-19 lockdown rules. If possible, I would like to receive this information broken down by offence/the rule that was broken.

We publish figures on crime in England and Wales based on main two sets of crime statistics: The Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and police recorded crime data. Neither of these sources hold data relating to fines issued by police forces, and we are therefore unable to provide you with statistics on the information you have requested.

However, the National Police Chief's Council have recently published a statistical update on the number of fixed penalty notices issued under COVID-19 emergency health regulations by police forces in England and Wales. This provisional data is based on fines given from the 27 March to 25 May 2020. These data also provide a breakdown on the reasons for which fixed penalty notices have been issued under emergency COVID-19 regulations:
