I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act, regarding baby names registered in England and Wales.
Please can you provide the following information:
- Number of babies named 'Luke' registered in England and Wales from the years 2020 to 2025 (if 2025 data isn't available, please include up to 2024).
- All data to be added to a excel sheet, with number of babies registered with this name per local authority.

Please see the associated download, which provides the number of babies that were named Luke for births registered between 2020 and 2023 by regions in England and Wales. We are still in the data collection and processing period for 2024. Baby names for 2024 will be published later this year.
This information at a local authority level can be ordered through our bespoke services route. Such services are subject to legal frameworks, resources and agreement of costs in line with our charging policy. Please also note that outputs are subject to disclosure control measures, which ensure that individuals cannot be identified. Owing to the granularity of data involved in outputs for a single name by year and local authority, the rate of suppression to ensure individuals cannot be identified may be quite high.
