You have made a Freedom of Information Request asking whether it is possible to match Ordnance Survey data with travel data from the 2011 Census.

Unfortunately we do not hold matched Ordnance Survey and travel data from the 2011 Census. In view of the special data processing and analytical work that would be required to produce such outputs and ensure that they comply with census confidentiality obligations we are not required to provide these data under the terms and conditions set out in the Freedom of Information Act.

Although we do not hold the information you have requested, we have published a range of travel related summary statistics which may help with your enquiry. Further details are set out in the attached table. In all cases the information may be accessed from the Nomis website via the attached link: https://www.nomisweb.co.uk/census/2011

In addition, Origin and Destination Tables are available at Output Area level. These may be accessed from various secure environments depending on the level of detail required. Further details about these arrangements are available from the attached link: http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/guide-method/census/2011/census-data/census-origin-and-destination-data/index.html

Finally, we have published a number of ad hoc analyses such as Table CT0462EW. This provides 2011 Census estimates that classify all usual residents aged 16 or over in employment the week before the Census by method of travel to work by sex at LSOA level in England and Wales. The information may be accessed from the downloads associated with this request.

It may be possible, depending on the availability of data and the need to safeguard confidentiality, to provide specially commissioned outputs. A charge may be made to cover costs and if you require further details about this service please contact the Census Customer Services Team at census.customerservices@ons.gov.uk. It is not necessary to make a Freedom of Information Request.
