You made a freedom of information request for "a list of the contact email addresses that you use to contact local authorities as part of your census consultations".

Responses from organisations to the 2021 Census topic consultation can be found on the consultation page:

Some of these have named contacts for local authorities, but no email addresses.

For the 2021 Census topic consultation, we did contact Chief Executives/Chief Officers at all local authorities in England and Wales using email addresses obtained from local authority websites (either published as such or by contacting the local authority directly). We also contacted individuals at local authorities that have previously worked with us and had agreed to be contacted with census related information.

However, we are unable to release this information to you. The Local Authority contact details you have requested contain personal information under the Data Protection Act 1998 and are therefore exempt under s.40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000.

In addition, s.39 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 makes it an offence to disclose personal information (including that which identifies a body corporate) held by the Statistics Board in the course of its functions. As the release of this information is prohibited by another enactment, we find that s.44 of FOIA applies.
