I wish to conduct an experiment on labour migration and would require some data.

Ideally, the data I need would be the latest information you have on these variables:

  1. UK Employment information by industry (something similar to table 6 in the UK Labour Market Report May 2016, but possibly more detailed). The more granular this data can be, the more separate industries that can be covered, the more helpful.

  2. Mean years of education in each of the industries covered in point 1 (e.g. the mean years of education of the workers in "Financial and Insurance Activities")

  3. Standard deviation of the years of education in each of the industries covered in point 1.

Labour Force Survey (LFS) datasets can be downloaded from the LFS data archive: https://www.ukdataservice.ac.uk/get-data/key-data

As a student you can access the datasets held on this website for free. There is guidance and contacts details for support available. As this information is already available to you via this route ONS considers that S21(1) applies to this request and the information does not have to be supplied under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act. S21(1) is an absolute exemption and no consideration of the public interest test needs to be applied.
