You asked
I would like you to provide the estimates for the Muslim population of England and Wales, which were provided to the Daily Mail on 31st January 2016.

There are two tables on the ONS website covering this request. http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/about-ons/business-transparency/freedom-of-information/what-can-i-request/published-ad-hoc-data/labour/january-2016/index.html
ONS were asked to supply the following data:
Comparable figures for people in E&W calling themselves Christian in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014
An age breakdown of the Muslim population of E&W for 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, preferably by decade range ie under 10, 10-20, 20-30 etc
Both can be found in the table with the ref: 005289. This holds data for 2011 and 2014 only. This table covers all recorded religions on the survey in England and Wales, including Christian, by the age breakdowns as specified but also for all other religions for completeness.
Is it possible to do nationwide figures for proportion of Muslims who were foreign-born, for 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014?
This can be found in table 005285. This holds data for 2011 and 2014. All tables are footnoted with quality information and definitions.
This is all we supplied, if there are other estimate used by the article they were not provided in response to this request.
