You asked
Information about fleet data and transport focuses of freight forwarders and Transport fleets operating by road with focus Western Europe.
We said
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) does not collect information specifically about the number or size of road freight forwarders or transport fleets in the UK.
Instead, ONS collect a range of information in the Annual Business Survey (ABS) for the 'Freight transport by road' industry (Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) 49.41) and also related to this the 'Warehousing and storage for land transport' industry (SIC 52.10/3 - part of 52.10 Warehousing and storage).
Estimated totals are available for these two industries, but not for individual businesses, and include annual counts of enterprises and employees, totals for turnover, approximate gross value added, purchases and employment costs.
Estimates for 2008 - 2012 for 49.41 and 52.10 are available online (see table in the tab for Section H)
Estimates (which include breakdowns of purchases and employment costs) for 49.41 and 52.10/3 are not available online but are available on request. The table included as an attachment covers our latest data from 2008 - 2012.
ONS does not collect data about the destination of UK road freight, however the Department for Transport does cover domestic and international destinations (filtered using "road freight").
I hope this answers the queries you raised. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at abs@ons.gov.uk
