Thank you for your interest in our trade statistics. We have looked at your request for data on imports to the UK from the Russian federation by individual commodity code for the years 2010 to 2015. Please see our response below.

You can find import data to the UK from Russia at aggregate level, i.e. for all commodities, in our Geographical breakdown of the current account, Pink Book Chapter 9. I have attached this dataset for your ease and you can find the relevant data in the following locations:

  • For total imports (goods & services) from Russia to UK see sheet 9.3 row 159

  • For trade in goods imports from Russia to UK see sheet 9.4 row 159

  • For trade in services imports from Russia to UK see sheet 9.5 row 159

For trade in goods by type of commodity: data are currently available by commodity and partner country separately, but not commodity by partner country. Commodity by country breakdowns are available via HM Revenue and Customs, but on an Overseas Trade Statistics (OTS) basis only. These aggregate estimates will differ slightly from those that are published by us on a Balance of payments (BoP) basis, as the two sets of data are compiled using different concepts. One of the objectives we are working towards in the UK trade development plan is to produce these breakdowns in the future, which will follow delivery of new processing systems for the trade team. At the moment we expect to be able to make this data available sometime in the second quarter of 2018.

For trade in services imports, from Russia to the UK by type of service: the most recent data are available in the Chapter 9 of the Pink Book (as above). We attach for your interest a timeseries including historic data from 2010 onwards.
