I'm concerned about the govt and the chief medical officers seeing fit to allow children to receive mRNA vaccines whilst the jcvi have stated there is minimal benefit from receiving the mRNA vaccine, have children died from long covid in the UK?

We are responsible for the production of mortality data for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.
We do not hold analysis on deaths from "long COVID", as there is no corresponding ICD-10 code.
All deaths due to COVID-19 are coded with the following ICD-10 codes in line with guidance from the World Health Organisation.
- U07.1 COVID-19, virus identified
- U07.2 COVID-19, virus not identified
- U09.9 Post-COVID condition - where the acute COVID had ended/the person had recovered before the condition immediately causing death occurred. This can only be a contributory mention, not the underlying cause of death. .
- U10.9 Multisystem inflammatory syndrome associated with COVID-19 (also called Kawasaki-like syndrome)
All the above codes are included in the analysis in our COVID-19 publications.
We hold the following analysis for deaths involving COVID-19 for under 19 years of age in 5-year age bands in England and Wales for 2020: Deaths due to COVID-19, registered in England and Wales: 2020.
