For 1990 to 2002, you can find figures on the number of homicides involving use of a firearm in Crime in England and Wales 2001/2002: Supplementary Volume, table 2.01.
These figures are taken from Police Recorded Crime, and as such the following details apply:
Includes homicides recorded by police where a firearm has been fired, or used as a blunt instrument
Excludes offences involving the use of air weapons, crossbows, and offences recorded by British Transport Police
From 2000/2001, data are presented year ending March. Prior to this, data are presented for each calendar year.
Lastly, please note that Police Recorded Crime data collected in the year ending 2002 or before are not comparable with data collected in the year ending 2003 or after. This is due to changes in recording rules for offences.
