Thank you for your enquiry about the number of migrants from Croatia to the UK.

The latest available migration data by country of birth by citizenship are for 2015 and were published on 1 December 2016. These estimates are based on the International Passenger Survey (IPS) and show that there were 1,900 Croatian-born migrants to the UK in 2015 with a confidence interval of +/- 1,500. This means that we expect the actual number to be between 400 and 3,400. This figure (taken from Table 4.06a) represents the estimate of the number of people born in Croatia who have migrated to the UK. You can also find the estimate of the number of Croatian citizens who migrated to the UK in Table 4.06b of the file downloadable from the link above.

The IPS is the main source of long-term (at least 12 months) international migration data, providing estimates of both inflows and outflows, but it does not cover all migration types. The IPS is a sample survey conducted at principal air and sea routes and the channel tunnel. As the IPS is a sample survey and not an exact count of passengers, the confidence intervals provide a measure of reliability around the estimates. Please see the downloadable document Long-Term International Migration estimates methodology on our website for further information.

Estimates for 2016 will be published in November 2017 and for 2017 we expect to publish at a similar time in 2018.
