I'd like to find the total number of employees working in the SIC code for Quantity Surveying (I believe it's 74909). I'd like the total count for the UK over the last 20 years, so from 2005 to 2025.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding data on the total number of employees working within the Quantity Surveying industry at UK level.
These data are collected annually through the Business Register and Employment Survey (BRES), which is conducted separately by ONS (for Great Britain) and the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) for Northern Ireland. Unfortunately, we do not hold the requested data at UK level. This is because NISRA retains ownership of Northern Ireland data and does not permit its publication below 3-digit SIC level.
However, Great Britain-level data are available at 5-digit SIC level data on our website, covering the periods from 2009 to 2024. Please note that 2024 figures are currently provisional.
The predecessor to BRES was the Annual Business Inquiry (ABI). ABI employment data are available free of charge through the NOMIS website under 'Other employment surveys'.
