Please provide statistics on Cameroonians living in Britain. The statistics may be presented according to any of the following characteristics where possible :
- age
- sex
- occupational status

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FoI) request regarding Cameroonians living in Britain.
The country of birth, nationality and occupational status of individuals are all collected as part of the Annual Population Survey (APS). From this we produce data about the Population by Nationality and Country of Birth and we estimate that in the year from July 2016 to June 2017 the number of Cameroonian citizens living in the UK was 4,000 with a confidence interval of 3,000. This means that we are 95% certain that the actual number is between 1,000 and 7,000.
The number of people living in the UK whose country of birth was Cameroon we estimate to be 12,000 (plus or minus 5,000), so in the range 7,000 to 17,000.
Further breakdowns of these figures are not feasible as the low numbers mean that to do so could be disclosive of individuals.
It would be possible to request a specific analysis for the number of Cameroonians by occupational status to be run by our Social Survey team to produce estimates. Depending on the amount of time taken to develop and produce the analysis a charge may be made for this service. Based on the nature of this request, due to the small sample sizes available, estimates produced may be of poor quality. As this information is already available to you via this route, we consider that s.21(1) applies to this request and the information does not have to be supplied under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act. S.21(1) is an absolute exemption and no consideration of the public interest test needs to be applied.
