Please provide the latest death rates in England and Wales for children and adults, where the cause of death is sepsis.

Underlying cause of death is coded using the International Classification of Diseases, version 10 (ICD-10). Deaths with an underlying cause of sepsis are assigned the ICD-10 codes A40 (Streptococcal sepsis) or A41 (Other sepsis). Figures for deaths by underlying cause and age are available for 2013 to 2016 from our explorable dataset:

The calculation for age specific death rates is:

(number of deaths in sex-age group divided by the population of that sex-age group) multiplied by 1,000.
